Unfriended

Its so weird when you realize you have been 'unfriended' on facebook. Isn't it though?

I have a teenage son...he could really give a crap about his facebook page. My daughter who is 21 knows how many friends she has from day to day. I only notice someone is missing when I realize that I havent seen any of their updates in a while. I look them up...and they arent my friend?? Really? I have seriously LOL'd really loud. I think its hilarious when I'm actually a little butt hurt about it.
Why the hell should I care? But then I have to wonder...why? Why am I having flash backs to high school and a sudden shot of insecurity? I wonder if my posts are too 'offensive'? LOL yeah right.
It really is no big deal. Seasons change and so do the seasons of our lives...we dont usually carry all those people through our lives with us. Its okay to connect with people from long ago on a social network page, but maybe they arent someone we want to stay connected with. Maybe we have moved on. Maybe we dont like their posts.

But deleting someone on facebook, is really a statement isnt it? I mean its like telling someone I dont even want to be your fake friend. LOL Because nothing on facebook is real anyways. The only REAL friendships are the people that you know, see and love in flesh anyways. I love seeing my neices and nephews smiling faces. I dont see them often enough. I can send a quick note to my mom long distance or like a pic of my neice. But those are REAL relationships. Facebook has just added another way to stay in touch.

Im guilty. Ive deleted people. Ive deleted people for their political views, their continuous ranting about how horrible their life is. Life is hard, so is mine, and the only thing that I like about your posts is that Im reminded about how much better my life is than yours. LOL Thankyou for making me grateful. I did learn how to block people, I mean block their posts. You can unsubscribe to their feed, that way you can stay connected when you want to, but not be blasted on your own newsfeed from unwanted pics and opinions.

Social networking sights like facebook, twitter and myspace (is that still even around?) are funny though. Its a great place to keep up with people. Its a great place for an online reunion from an old employer to your graduating class. But people are funny...they are either talking about how wonderful and perfect their life is...or about how horrible and screwed up things are. I just dont buy all the BS...its like a big shit show.

Anyways, Im totally cool with not being friends in real life or even in the fake facebook world. LOL
